Max, a German Shepherd mix, had just finished his training as a Newly-licensed Dyfed-Powys, UK, police dog as he and his trainer/partner PC Pete Lloyd set out on their first shift together on August 1st. Their first assignment, search and rescue of a mother and her one-year-old who had not been seen or heard from for two days.
The mother’s car had been spotted on a mountain road which provided a starting point for rescue teams, but also a vast area to cover.
Max and his partner worked diligently alongside Brecon Mountain Rescue Team covering miles of open mountain area and hiking trails. Finally, the mother and the young child were located alongside a ravine. Though cold and shaken from the ordeal, they were able to make a full recovery.
